Since the start of the year, 10 Year 6 children have been involved with Stockton Children Book of the Year. They have taken part in reading 5 different books and voting for their favourite. Yesterday, the children were able to meet one of the shortlisted authors, Vashti Hardy. They thoroughly enjoyed speaking with her about what inspired her to become an author and write books that are dyslexic friendly. 2 of the children, who received the Best Effort and Best Review awards attended the ceremony, in which the winning book was announce. This was ‘A Kind of Spark’ by Elle McNicoll. The girls were thrilled to meet the authors, and receive their awards from the Mayor. I have been amazed by the effort all of the children have put in! They should be very proud!
